Recent Shoots

Calli Shoot

I have just had the pleasure of shooting some portrait pictures for singer Calli Malpas, from OCD, for a poster to advertise her upcoming solo performances. This gallery is small collection from the day Calli has allowed me to publish.

Latest OCD Shoot

A thoroughly challenging shoot of OCD working with very low light. The images are unfortunately grainy because of the very high speed I was running the camera at but it all adds to the 'live effect'!

Total Jam

Total Jam are a Jam tribute band made up of some of the members of As Is Now, who I have previously done many shoots for. The guys are really into back and white images so many of the shots are duplicated in both colour and mono. It is intersting to see how the mood of the image can change when the colur is taken away.

Kellys Heros

I made myself a nuisance with another band and tried out a new camera. I would like to thank Kellys Heros for allowing me to practice some more event photography. Check out their myspace page at www.myspace.com/kellysheros

How to be a Wildlife Photographer

Find out how I went about photographing a local fox after spotting it in the local churchyard.

Snow

Many will probably have noticed there is a large amount of white stuff covering the ground at the moment. Here are some images taken before and after Christmas. The second set of pictures 'Dead Cold' were taken at a local churchyard.

OCD

This impromptu set of photographs, of another band I see, was inspired by the lasers firing out from behind the guitarist!

As Is Now

I have become good friends with this band and I am also now known as the official band photographer. We are trying to arrange a shoot for some art work on a new band poster.

Wildlife Heritage Foundation

These photos are from day at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation in Smarden, Kent. The foundation specialises in breeding endangered species and holds special photographic tours which I guess goes towards some of its upkeep.

News

LRPS Success

The astute among you may have noticed that my images are now copyright of Iain Blacklock LRPS. I am pleased to announce that on the 7th July 2010 the Licentiate Assessment panel for the Royal Photographic Society recommended me for my LRPS. I would like to thank Richard Walton FRPS for all his help and advice to gain this first level distinction with the society. Without his constant support I would never have got around to submitting a panel. I would also like to thank some of the members of Sittingbourne Photographic Society who have without doubt assisted me on path to success, especially David for his moral support on the day!

I Retain the Shepherd Neame Trophy

Last year I won print of the evening in the Shepherd Neame Trophy, a photographic competition held between Sittingbourne, Faversham and the Isle of Sheppey camera clubs. Unfortunately the shield trophy could not be found and I only actually got the trophy about a month ago. Last night, 17th March 2010, I won the trophy for the second year running with Broken Barges.

Kent County Photographic Association Exhibition Acceptances

This year marked my second attempt at getting entries accepted in the the KCPA Exhibition. Unlike my first attempt, that saw me get all my entries back fairly swiftly, this year I am proud to say I have had two entries accepted, Waiting for the Morning Tide and Winter Ebb. The exhibition will run from the 24th April until the 27th May at Sessions Hall, County Hall, Maidstone and entry is free.

I need to speed up my act!

Lessons I am learning about the art of event photography, my new passion.

All Systems Go!

I am finally getting my act together in attempting to get my LRPS distinction. I am working with a good friend from my photographic society, that just happens to know a thing or two about getting RPS distinctions, to select a number of images and work on designing a panel. I have arranged workshops, planned assessment days and currently printing drafts for review now the shop has finally got my ink in! Edit - 18th July. See latest news about LRPS Success!

DxO Optics Pro

Well, I have been looking at some software for over a year now that corrects lens and colour distortion. I noticed on their website that they had 33% off as a Christmas special saving a chunk of money. After downloading the trial version and having a play I bit the bullet and bought it. I have started putting some examples of what it can do in a gallery that you can view using the link below.

Recent Work

Did some impromptu pictures for a local band. Four of them have made it to their website, the images are villager1 - villager 4 under their photos link.
