staring up
Astrophotography
I would not say I was an avid astronomer but occasionally I would just stand and stare up. On a holiday in South Wales one year that was never truer than when I stepped out of the small lodge we had hired and, after a few minutes where my eyes adjusted, the beauty of the galactic core slowly started revealing itself over head. In February 2025 I invested in some initial kit to get started and got that same sense of awe and enjoyment when I pointed my trusty Fuji camera with its 400mm lens at what I hoped was the Orion Nebula and the first image appeared on the back screen. After that I was officially hooked on this highly technical genre of photography.
